4-Day Tanzania Safari: Private Itinerary

Manada de elefantes en el Parque Nacional del Lago Manyara

This private 4-day Tanzania safari combines culture at Lake Eyasi, wildlife and baobabs in Tarangire, the varied habitats of Lake Manyara and the volcanic scenery of Arusha National Park. It is a diverse itinerary for travellers with limited time who prefer not to make the longer journey to Serengeti.

The itinerary is adapted to your dates, group size, accommodation and arrival point. Timings are indicative: real safari days must account for traffic, road conditions, access and the time spent watching wildlife.

4-day safari summary

  • Day 1: Arusha to Lake Eyasi and a cultural experience.
  • Day 2: Lake Eyasi to Tarangire National Park.
  • Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park and return to Arusha.
  • Day 4: Arusha National Park and return to Arusha.

Day 1: Arusha and Lake Eyasi

Travel from Arusha to Lake Eyasi, southwest of the Ngorongoro Highlands. The drive takes a significant part of the day, so departure time depends on your accommodation the previous night.

Hadza and Datoga communities live in this area. A responsible visit should not turn daily life into a performance or promise a particular encounter. Activities must be arranged through local contacts, explained in advance, photographed only with permission and compensated transparently.

The night is spent in the Eyasi area, with a choice of camp, tented camp or lodge according to availability.

Day 2: Lake Eyasi and Tarangire

After breakfast, travel to Tarangire National Park. Its baobab landscapes and the Tarangire River are among its most recognisable features. Elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and many birds may be seen, although no sighting can be guaranteed.

Time inside the park depends on the departure from Eyasi and road conditions. Meals are arranged according to the chosen plan. After the game drive, continue to accommodation near Mto wa Mbu, Manyara or Karatu.

Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park

The third day is dedicated to Lake Manyara National Park. It combines groundwater forest, open areas, wetlands and lakeshore habitat. The park is known for its birdlife and mammals such as elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, baboons and hippos.

Accessible areas and routes can vary with water levels and track conditions. After the game drive, return to Arusha for dinner and rest.

Day 4: Arusha National Park

Travel to Arusha National Park, where Mount Meru’s forests, Ngurdoto Crater and the Momella Lakes provide a different final day.

A vehicle safari can be combined with an authorised guided walk when booked in advance. The park is particularly interesting for black-and-white colobus monkeys, buffaloes, giraffes and birds. Return to Arusha after the visit.

Safari price

We do not publish a fixed price because it could be misleading. Cost mainly depends on group size, exact dates and season, accommodation level, room type, optional activities, collection point, official fees and taxes.

For a comparable quotation, tell us the number of travellers, approximate dates and preferred accommodation. Our response clearly explains what is included and excluded.

Who is this itinerary for?

It suits travellers looking for variety in four days: culture, three parks and different landscapes. It can also be the first part of a journey continuing to the coast or Zanzibar.

It is not the right route if Serengeti or Ngorongoro Crater are essential. Including them requires a different itinerary and more road time, so we would prepare another proposal.

Accommodation and vehicle

Accommodation is not limited to particular properties until availability is checked. We can suggest camps, tented camps or lodges. Before booking, you receive the proposed names, meal plan and room type.

The vehicle is selected according to group size and luggage. The proposal confirms whether the safari is private and identifies all included services. Tell us before confirmation if you need a child seat, mobility assistance or extra space.

Frequently asked questions

Is the safari private?

It can be arranged as a private safari for your group. This is stated explicitly in the quotation.

Can we change a park?

Yes, although changes affect distances, fees and accommodation. Tell us which wildlife, landscapes or activities matter most so we can design a coherent route.

When should we book?

Once your dates are defined, it becomes easier to secure the desired accommodation category. During busy seasons, request availability well in advance.

Can I continue to Zanzibar?

Yes. We can check connections from Arusha according to flights and dates; transport to Zanzibar is listed as an additional service.

What information is needed for a quotation?

Approximate dates, number and ages of travellers, flights if booked, preferred accommodation, interests and any special requirements.
